ALBI
We will start off by basing ourselves in the stunning UNESCO town of Albi. Albi is home to the Toulouse Lautrec Museum and is historically known for it's Cathar heritage. The town is a great place to base ourselves for the first 5 days of our trip, with plenty of cafes, restaurants and historic areas to visit. Albi also played host to the 2015 CycloTourisme festival with over 15000 cyclists riding around the area for a week. In 2017 Albi will also host the Wold Masters Road Championships.
From here our rides will take us through the rolling hills and vineyards of France's oldest wine area, past walled cities and sun-flower fields.
We will travel to Montauban to see the stage finish on our second day, while the rest of our time will be devoted to riding and visiting this stunning area.
PYRENEES
The second part of our trip will see us relocate to the Pyrenees. We will stop off and ride the mighty Col du Tourmalet on the way to our base for the next 5 days in the piecefull mountain village of Massat, right in the heart of the Pyrenees.
We will see the riders race nearby as they go from Andorra to Revel. We will also take a day to go see the stage start in Carcassonne, and make the most of the day to visit this amazing city. Carcassonne has been the scene of many movies, including Robin Hood Prince of Thieves with Kevin Costner.
Our rides from here will include many Tour de France classics, with quiet roads, great views and plenty of little villages to stop in for Lunch. Evenings can be stent enjoying a quiet glass of wine before dinner at the local restaurant.
